Design for all public spaces within Hong Kong’s largest multi-storey vehicle examination building involved the development of a interior design theme based on specific colour themes of each floor for easy way finding of users. The design encompassed circulation spaces, lift interiors, grand lobby, typical floor lobbies, customer booking counters, changing rooms, toilets, training centres, control rooms and modular integrated construction (MIC) vehicle examination kiosks. Utilising a structured approach to the design language, the use of articulated fins with variable amounts permeability, impregnated with an architectonic structure of signage text including large format letting of different colours allowed users to get an immediate understanding to navigate the building where signage and architecture merges together as one.
